My eyes flutter open as the sweet nutty aroma of coffee fills my nose and I hear the sound of my coffee pot brewing, accompanied by Nessa and Tara rummaging around the cabinets in my tiny kitchen.

I better join them before they burn my house down.

When I look over, my bed is empty where Jace was laying and a twinge of anxiety courses through me. I reach over and pull my phone off the nightstand, hoping to see a message from him.

Jace: I had to leave to do ranch chores and run to the distillery.
